Kupwara, Nov 21: Security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during an operation in Kupwara district, officials said today. The recovery was made during a joint search operation launched by the Army and police in the border belt following specific intelligence inputs.

According to officials, the seized cache included rifles, ammunition rounds and other war-like stores believed to have been hidden for use by militant groups operating in the region. The recovery is being seen as a significant success in ongoing counter-infiltration and anti-terror efforts along the Line of Control.

Security agencies have intensified searches in the area to track any possible movement linked to the recovered weapons. Officials said the seizure highlights continued attempts by elements across the border to push arms into Kashmir to revive militant activities.

Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended recipients of the consignment. Security forces have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strict vigilance in the region and preventing the circulation of illegal weapons.
