SRINAGAR, Nov 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has directed that Constitution Day be celebrated across the Union Territory on November 26, with official programmes to mark the occasion. The order emphasizes the importance of commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of India and spreading awareness about its values.

Administrative departments, educational institutions, and public offices have been instructed to organize events highlighting the significance of the Constitution in shaping democratic governance. Activities will include reading of the Preamble, discussions on constitutional principles, and awareness drives aimed at engaging citizens.

Officials stated that the celebrations are intended to reaffirm commitment to the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution. The government has asked departments to ensure wide participation and to make the observance meaningful and inclusive.

Constitution Day, also known as ‘Samvidhan Divas,’ is observed annually on November 26 to honor the adoption of the Constitution in 1949. The day serves as a reminder of the foundational values guiding the nation’s democratic framework.

The J&K Government reiterated that the celebrations will reflect the spirit of constitutional democracy and encourage citizens to uphold the principles that strengthen unity and integrity of the country.
