Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has welcomed the decision to provide an additional 50 workdays under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir affected by recent calamities. The move aims to support rehabilitation and livelihood restoration in disaster-hit areas.

The Chief Minister stated that the additional workdays will provide much-needed employment opportunities to residents in affected panchayats, enabling them to rebuild infrastructure and recover from the impact of natural calamities.

Authorities emphasized that this measure is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen rural livelihoods, promote economic recovery, and ensure that communities receive timely support during crises.

CM Abdullah urged officials to ensure smooth implementation and efficient utilization of the additional workdays under MGNREGA, highlighting the importance of monitoring and accountability in delivering benefits to the affected population.
