Senior CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said that every Kashmiri unequivocally condemns terrorism and has repeatedly stood for peace and harmony. He stressed that portraying Kashmiris with suspicion or questioning their loyalty is neither fair nor in the national interest. According to him, such narratives only create unnecessary divisions and undermine the long-standing contributions of the people of Jammu and Kashmir toward maintaining peace.

Tarigami noted that the vast majority of residents have suffered the most due to violence and have consistently demanded an end to all forms of terror. He said the community has shown resilience, cooperation with authorities, and a strong desire for stability, which must be acknowledged rather than overshadowed by mistrust.

He urged political leaders and national media to refrain from making sweeping generalisations about Kashmiris, calling instead for responsible dialogue that supports unity and mutual respect. Tarigami stressed that building trust and addressing genuine public concerns should be the priority to ensure lasting peace in the region.

He reiterated that national integration cannot be strengthened by alienating any community and that recognising the pain, aspirations, and democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is essential for a stronger and more cohesive nation.
