Jammu, Nov 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Government today launched the e-auction process for seven limestone mineral blocks, marking a significant step toward boosting the mining sector and attracting private investment in the Union Territory.
Senior officials from the Geology and Mining Department said the e-auction aims to ensure transparency, competitive bidding and optimal utilisation of mineral resources. The process is being conducted through an online platform to facilitate wider participation from interested bidders across the country.
The identified limestone blocks are spread across multiple districts and have been assessed for their commercial viability. Officials said the auction would help unlock the region’s mineral potential, generate employment, and contribute to revenue growth for the Union Territory.
The department has invited prospective bidders to register on the designated portal and participate in the auction as per the notified timelines. Detailed geological reports, tender documents and block-specific information have been uploaded online for reference.
The government expects that the transparent e-auction mechanism will attract credible investors, promote scientific mining practices, and support sustainable development in the mineral sector.
