Srinagar, Nov 25: A severe cold wave has gripped the Kashmir Valley, causing a significant drop in temperatures and prompting authorities to issue advisories for residents to take necessary precautions. Early morning readings have recorded temperatures several degrees below normal for this time of year.
Officials reported that many areas, including higher reaches, are experiencing frost, while plains and urban centres are witnessing chilly winds and foggy conditions. The cold wave has affected daily life, with schools, transport, and local businesses adjusting to the harsh weather conditions.
The Meteorological Department has advised residents, especially the elderly and children, to avoid prolonged exposure to cold, wear adequate warm clothing, and take special care of health during the cold spell. Farmers and livestock owners have also been advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops and animals.
