In a significant development, a Naxal couple, who were carrying a bounty of Rs 20 lakh, surrendered to the Chhattisgarh police on Thursday. The duo, wanted for multiple violent incidents in the region, voluntarily gave themselves up at a local police station under the supervision of senior officials.

Police said the surrender is a positive step toward restoring peace and reducing insurgency in affected districts. The couple has been cooperating with authorities since surrendering, and investigations into their past activities are underway. Officials also confirmed that appropriate legal action will follow in accordance with the law.

Senior Chhattisgarh police officials praised the surrender, highlighting it as a result of effective intelligence operations, persistent outreach, and the state’s ongoing rehabilitation programs for Naxal members willing to renounce violence.

Authorities urged other Naxal cadres to take advantage of the surrender and rehabilitation schemes offered by the state government, emphasizing that the administration remains committed to creating an environment of peace, development, and security across all affected regions.
