Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, Kolkata is set to host a grand Gita recitation event, bringing together an estimated 5 lakh participants. Organisers said the massive spiritual gathering aims to celebrate the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita while promoting harmony and devotion among citizens.
The event will feature coordinated recitations across multiple venues in the city, with arrangements made for seating, safety, and public convenience. Religious leaders, scholars, and volunteers will guide participants to ensure a disciplined and meaningful experience for all attendees.
Authorities have been coordinating with the organisers to manage crowd flow, traffic, and security measures, ensuring that the large gathering proceeds smoothly. Medical aid and emergency services will also be deployed at strategic locations throughout the event.
Organisers highlighted that the event not only seeks to inspire spiritual reflection but also to foster community bonding, cultural engagement, and the revival of traditional practices. Officials expect the gathering to become one of the largest devotional assemblies in the city’s recent history.
