Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s new facility in Hyderabad, marking a significant milestone in India’s private space sector. The facility is expected to accelerate indigenous development of launch vehicles and strengthen India’s position in the global space economy.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister recalled the government’s ‘historic’ space reforms, which opened the sector to private participation and innovation. He emphasized that these reforms have enabled startups like Skyroot to contribute to India’s vision of becoming a global leader in space technology.

Modi highlighted that the establishment of the facility reflects growing investor confidence in India’s space ecosystem and underlines the country’s commitment to self-reliance under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. He noted that the collaboration between government agencies and private enterprises is driving rapid advancements in satellite launches, space exploration, and related technologies.

Officials stated that the Hyderabad unit will focus on manufacturing and testing of advanced launch vehicle systems, creating new opportunities for employment, skill development, and innovation. The facility is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting India’s expanding commercial space missions.

The inauguration underscores India’s strategic push to integrate private sector capabilities with national space programmes, reinforcing the country’s emergence as a trusted partner in the global space industry.
