Srinagar Records Coldest November Night Since 2007

Srinagar recorded the season’s coldest night as temperatures dipped to minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, marking the coldest November in nearly two decades. Officials confirmed that the minimum temperature fell further from minus 4.4 degrees Celsius the previous night, continuing a sharp downward trend across the Valley.

Weather stations reported sub-zero conditions in most districts, with Pahalgam at minus 5.5 degrees, Pulwama at minus 6.2 degrees, Shopian at minus 6.7 degrees, and Baramulla at minus 5.9 degrees. Gulmarg remained relatively milder at minus 1.4 degrees, while Zojila Pass recorded the lowest at minus 16.0 degrees Celsius.

Authorities noted that Srinagar’s night temperature was more than four degrees below the normal for this time of year. The Valley is experiencing its coldest November since 2007, when Srinagar had recorded minus 4.8 degrees Celsius. The all-time lowest November temperature in the city remains minus 7.8 degrees Celsius, recorded in 1934.

Officials said the prevailing cold wave has gripped the entire region, with several weather stations reporting their lowest November readings in nearly two decades. The Meteorological Department has advised residents to take precautions against the severe cold conditions.
