New Delhi, Nov 29: A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday extended the custody of four accused in the recent Delhi blast case by 10 more days, granting the investigative agency additional time to deepen its probe into the alleged conspiracy.
The accused — who were produced before the court upon completion of their earlier remand — are suspected to have played key roles in coordinating activities linked to the explosion that occurred in the national capital earlier this month. The blast had triggered heightened security across Delhi and prompted a multi-agency investigation.
During the hearing, the NIA informed the court that the custody of the four individuals was crucial for further interrogation, recovery of digital evidence, identification of possible handlers, and verification of communication records. The agency stated that preliminary questioning had uncovered leads pointing to a wider network, which required additional custodial interrogation.
The court, after reviewing the agency’s submissions and case diary, agreed that the investigation was at a “critical stage” and allowed the 10-day extension. The accused will remain in NIA custody while investigators analyse technical data, conduct field verification, and pursue links to suspected external operatives.
The blast case is being probed under sections related to terrorism, conspiracy, and unlawful activities. The NIA is expected to present an updated status report once the extended remand concludes.
