New Delhi, November 30: Members of Parliament from Jammu and Kashmir are set to take oath in the Rajya Sabha tomorrow, marking the first swearing-in from the Union Territory in five years.
The development follows the recent elections to the Upper House, which returned representation from Jammu and Kashmir after a prolonged gap. The last swearing-in of MPs from the region took place in 2020, prior to the reorganization of the erstwhile state.
Officials confirmed that the newly elected MPs will formally take oath before the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha during the session scheduled for December 1. The occasion is being seen as a significant step in restoring parliamentary representation for Jammu and Kashmir at the national level.
The swearing-in is expected to draw attention across political circles, as it comes at a time when the Union Territory is witnessing renewed focus on governance, development, and democratic processes.
