Pulwama Operation Highlights Ongoing Battle Against Narcotics

Pulwama, December 1 — Police in Pulwama district have recovered 1 kg 130 grams of brown sugar–like substance and arrested two individuals during a naka checking operation at Rahmoo Bridge.

A police party from Police Post Rahmoo intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle (JK09D-7662) after noticing suspicious movement. On searching the vehicle, packets containing the contraband were recovered. The vehicle was also seized.

The accused have been identified as Muneer Ahmed Shiek, son of Abdul Hameed Shiek, and Toufeeq Ahmed Shiek, son of Mohammad Rafiq Shiek, both residents of Hajitra Karna. They were taken into custody on the spot.

Police said a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify other individuals involved in the network.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate by reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
