Jammu, Dec 5: Three persons, including the groom, were killed and two others sustained injuries when a vehicle carrying a wedding procession met with an accident in Jammu, officials said on Friday.
The mishap occurred as the baraat was en route to the bride’s residence. Police said the vehicle lost control and overturned, leaving the groom and two companions dead on the spot. The injured were rushed to hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. Officials said preliminary findings suggest overspeeding may have been a factor.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the families and the local community, turning what was meant to be a day of celebration into tragedy.
