Rajouri, December 5: Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Rajinder Sapru, accompanied by Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Shama Sharma, Chief Prosecuting Officer Shaheen Khan, and the LADCs team, inspected the District Jail at Dhangri today.
During the visit, the Chairman and Secretary interacted directly with inmates, giving them an opportunity to voice their concerns. Nearly 25 undertrial prisoners shared their grievances, which the Chairman directed the Jail Superintendent to formally forward to the DLSA office for immediate action.
The inspection also covered civic amenities and cleanliness. The barracks and surroundings were found neat and well-maintained, with floors kept clean.
The Jail Superintendent briefed the Chairman that the facility currently houses 252 prisoners—231 men and 21 women—against a sanctioned capacity of 152. Male inmates are accommodated in five barracks, while female inmates are housed separately in one barrack.
Meanwhile, under the guidance of Chairman Rajinder Sapru and Secretary Shama Sharma, the District Legal Services Authority organized an awareness camp and a street play (Nukkad Natak) to highlight the importance of the upcoming National Lok Adalat on December 13, 2025.
The programme, held in collaboration with National Public School at the District Court Complex, saw participation from judicial officers, Bar members, LADCs, PLVs, and the general public.
