Srinagar, Dec 6: Air connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir has been severely disrupted as IndiGo Airlines faces an operational crisis, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded and causing widespread inconvenience. The situation has triggered concerns among travelers and stakeholders, with flight cancellations and delays reported across major routes.
Officials at Srinagar International Airport confirmed that several scheduled flights were either cancelled or rescheduled due to the airline’s internal crisis. Passengers expressed frustration over last-minute changes, citing difficulties in reaching destinations and the lack of timely communication from the carrier.
Travel industry representatives said the disruption has hit J&K particularly hard, given the region’s dependence on air travel for business, tourism, and essential connectivity. They urged the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to intervene and ensure that airlines maintain operational stability to safeguard passenger interests.
IndiGo management has acknowledged the crisis and assured that corrective measures are being taken to restore normal operations. The airline stated that technical and staffing challenges were being addressed on priority, and passengers would be compensated in line with aviation guidelines.
Authorities in J&K emphasized that reliable air services are critical for the Union Territory, especially during the winter season when road connectivity is often hampered. The administration has sought immediate updates from the airline and urged swift resolution to minimize hardship for travelers.
