Rajouri, December 10 — The Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, accompanied by the SHO Kandi and officers from the CRPF and 43 Rashtriya Rifles, conducted VDG Divas at Police Post Peeri. The programme brought together Village Defence Committee (VDC) members from adjoining villages to strengthen coordination and review operational preparedness.

During the event, VDC members were briefed on the latest Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines issued by the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir. The instructions focused on enhancing vigilance, improving communication with security agencies, and ensuring readiness of Village Defence Guards (VDGs) and VDCs in safeguarding their communities.

Participants from the villages of Dharsakri, Rehan, Prori Brahmana, and Gakhrote attended the programme. They were sensitized about the importance of maintaining heightened vigilance in their respective areas, timely sharing of information with local police and security forces, and ensuring proper custody, upkeep, and maintenance of arms and ammunition.

Officials emphasized that the role of VDGs and VDCs is crucial in strengthening grassroots security and building trust between communities and enforcement agencies. The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to empowering local defence committees and reinforcing collective responsibility for peace and safety.
