Srinagar, 11 December 2025: Temperatures dipped across most parts of Kashmir as the region continued to experience a fresh spell of cold conditions on Thursday. The night temperatures fell below normal at several stations, with the chill intensifying in both urban and rural pockets.

Weather officials said the drop was recorded across the Valley, including Srinagar, where the minimum temperature slipped further compared to the previous night. Tourist destinations such as Gulmarg and Pahalgam also witnessed a noticeable decline, adding to the winter chill.

The Meteorological Department attributed the fall in temperatures to clear night skies, which allow heat to escape more rapidly. Officials said the prevailing conditions are typical for this time of the year, though a further dip is likely in the coming days.

Despite the cold, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, with no major precipitation forecast for the next few days. The department, however, advised residents in higher reaches to exercise caution during early morning and late evening hours due to increased chances of frost formation.

The drop in temperatures has led to a rise in demand for heating appliances and winter essentials, while early morning fog affected visibility in some areas. Authorities have urged commuters to drive carefully during low‑visibility hours.
