Mumbai, December 12 — Former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil passed away today in Maharashtra at the age of 91. A veteran parliamentarian and senior national leader, Patil served in several key positions during his long public life.
Patil, who represented the Congress party for decades, held portfolios including Home Affairs, Defence, and Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He was widely regarded for his calm demeanour, administrative experience and commitment to parliamentary processes.
Leaders from across the political spectrum expressed condolences, recalling his contributions to national governance and public service. They noted that his tenure in various constitutional and ministerial roles left a lasting impact on India’s legislative and administrative landscape.
