Rajouri, Dec, 12: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today reviewed the progress of widening and upgradation works on National Highway 144 from Sunderbani to the BG sector. The meeting focused on speeding up execution and addressing bottlenecks to ensure timely completion of the project.

The DDC took a detailed assessment of the Thandapani, Bakhar and Galuthi Kotli stretches. Discussions covered land-related disputes, the need for additional land acquisition, identification of dumping sites and the expected timelines for completing each section.

Stressing uninterrupted execution, the District Development Commissioner directed the concerned agencies to accelerate work across all stretches. He asked them to strictly follow the timelines set for resolving pending issues and to immediately inform the district administration of any obstacle that could slow down progress.

To enhance road safety, the DDC instructed the executing agencies to lay rumble strips and install signages and blinking lights at vulnerable points, including Siot.

He emphasised coordinated efforts and timely intervention to ensure smooth progress of the highway project, which is vital for commuters, local residents and defence movement in the region.

The meeting was attended by IAS Probationer Seerat Baaji; BRO representatives Preetam Kumar and Manumay Bisht; and officials from the AC Defence Office.
