Authorities have intensified livestock screening across all entry points into the Valley as nearly 3.5 crore poultry birds have arrived over the past several months. The stepped‑up surveillance aims to ensure that all incoming consignments meet health and biosecurity standards amid the heavy influx.
Officials said dedicated teams are deployed round the clock to monitor vehicles transporting poultry and other livestock. The checks include verification of health certificates, inspection of transportation conditions and screening for any signs of disease.
The increased arrival of poultry has prompted the administration to tighten monitoring to prevent any potential health risks. Veterinary officers have been instructed to maintain strict oversight and ensure that no consignment bypasses mandatory checks.
Authorities said the enhanced screening will continue in the coming weeks to safeguard public health and maintain biosecurity across the Valley.
