The Directorate of School Education Kashmir has emphasized the need to strengthen foundational learning across schools in the region. In its latest communication, the directorate highlighted that building strong literacy and numeracy skills at the primary level is essential for improving overall educational outcomes.

Officials said the initiative is aligned with national education goals and aims to ensure that every child acquires basic competencies in reading, writing, and arithmetic during the early years of schooling. The directorate has directed schools to adopt activity-based learning methods, continuous assessment, and remedial support to achieve these objectives.

The move is expected to enhance classroom practices, reduce learning gaps, and prepare students for higher grades with a stronger academic base. Authorities added that monitoring mechanisms will be strengthened to track progress and provide timely interventions where required.
