Food Safety authorities collected 22 egg samples across Kashmir as part of an intensified quality surveillance drive. The sampling teams visited markets, wholesale points, and retail outlets to assess the quality and safety of eggs being supplied to consumers.

Officials said the exercise aims to strengthen routine monitoring and ensure that food items in circulation meet the prescribed safety standards. The collected samples have been sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis, including checks for contamination, adulteration, and compliance with regulatory norms.

The department noted that regular sampling helps identify potential risks early and supports timely corrective action. Authorities added that inspections will continue in the coming days, with a focus on maintaining transparency in the food supply chain and safeguarding public health.

Traders and suppliers have been advised to adhere strictly to hygiene and storage guidelines, particularly during winter months when temperature fluctuations can affect perishable items. The department reiterated that enforcement teams will maintain close oversight to ensure that only safe and quality-assured products reach consumers.
