Long‑Wanted Criminal of Royal Singh Gang Arrested in Jammu

Jammu Police today recorded a major success with the arrest of a long‑absconding and notorious accused wanted in a case registered at Police Station City.

The accused has been identified as Mohd Ayaz Shantoo, S/o Mohd Iqbal, R/o House No. 160, Gujjar Nagar, Jammu. A known associate of the Royal Singh Gang, he was wanted in FIR No. 06/2025 under Sections 109 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He had been evading arrest for nearly 11 months.

Acting on specific and reliable information, a team from Police Post Residency Road, led by SI Aaqib Lateef and supervised by SHO Police Station City, Inspector Shakti Devi, carried out a swift operation and apprehended the accused from Hotel City Light in the Jewel area of Jammu.

The accused is a history‑sheeter of Police Station Peermitha and a habitual offender involved in several serious criminal cases across Jammu district. The cases registered against him include:

* FIR No. 07/2019 U/S 341/323/326/147/148/149/109 RPC – PS City
* FIR No. 38/2020 U/S 279/429 IPC – PS Peermitha
* FIR No. 40/2020 U/S 279/337 IPC – PS Peermitha
* FIR No. 51/2021 U/S 353/332/382/452/504/506/147/427 IPC – PS Peermitha

After his arrest, the accused was taken to Police Station City, where further investigation is in progress and legal formalities are being completed.

Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to taking firm action against habitual offenders and ensuring peace, public safety and the rule of law in the city.
