At least ten people were injured in a road accident involving a tempo at Chowki Chora on the Jammu–Poonch highway on Monday, officials said. The vehicle reportedly lost control and met with an accident, causing injuries to several passengers travelling in it.
Locals and passers-by rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and informed the authorities. Police and rescue teams reached the scene promptly and shifted the injured to nearby health facilities for first aid.
As the condition of some of the injured was reported to be serious, they were later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialised treatment. Doctors at GMC said the injured are undergoing medical care and are being closely monitored.
The police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Traffic on the busy Jammu–Poonch highway was briefly affected but was restored after the damaged vehicle was removed from the road.
