Jammu, December 17, 2025: As part of its ongoing drive against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Police Station Miran Sahib foiled an illegal transportation attempt in the Maralia area on Tuesday.
Police officials had set up a special naka at Maralia when a truck bearing registration number JK03H-5127, coming from Khotli Miyan Fateh towards Maralia, was signalled to stop. The driver, however, ignored the signal and tried to flee, prompting the police team to chase and intercept the vehicle.
Taking advantage of the darkness, the driver managed to escape from the spot. On checking the vehicle, police found nine bovines being transported illegally. All the animals were rescued safely and the truck was seized.
In this connection, FIR No. 158/2025 has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Further investigation is underway.
