RAJOURI: Rajouri Police on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler identified as Aftar Ahmed and recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession.
According to police officials, the arrest was made during a routine naka checking after the suspect was noticed moving suspiciously. Upon search, a quantity of heroin-like substance was recovered, following which he was immediately taken into custody.
The recovered contraband was seized as per legal procedure, and a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at the concerned police station.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the recovered substance and to identify other individuals who may be involved in the drug trafficking network.
Rajouri Police reiterated their resolve to continue strict action against drug peddlers and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information to help curb the menace of drugs in the district.
