Doda, December 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested three persons in connection with a sacrilegious act reported from Doda district, officials said.
Police said the incident came to light after local residents noticed objectionable material at a religious site, triggering concern in the area. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the police, who acted swiftly to prevent any escalation.
A case was registered under relevant sections of law, and multiple teams were formed to investigate the incident. Based on preliminary inquiry, technical inputs, and ground-level verification, police identified the suspects involved in the act.
Officials said the three accused were arrested within hours and taken into custody for questioning. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the act and to determine whether more individuals were involved.
Senior police officers stated that the situation in Doda remains peaceful and under control. Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to maintain law and order and to reassure the public.
Police have appealed to people to maintain calm, avoid spreading rumours, and cooperate with authorities. They reiterated that any attempt to hurt religious sentiments or disturb communal harmony will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
