Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praised the Central government for its cooperative approach despite political differences. He said, “We don’t earn as much as we spend on governance… it could be very easy for the Government of India to bring us to our knees. All they had to do was choke off funds … but they actually did the opposite of that. They gave more money to my government at the end of last year, than what was actually part of the budget. Hope the same will continue this year.”

He acknowledged the support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting that it sets him apart as a leader who prioritizes national development over politics. Abdullah added, “The Government of India has conducted itself in a way where it has left me very limited scope to complain. We are an economically disadvantaged part of the country.”

Despite ongoing debates over issues like statehood and governance, Abdullah emphasized that the additional funds and support demonstrate a results-driven approach, reflecting Modi’s commitment to improving India irrespective of political divides.
