Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to the brave heroes and martyrs of the 1971 Indo‑Pakistan war on Vijay Diwas, honouring their courage and sacrifice that led to a decisive victory for India. The nation remembered the historic conflict that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh, a seminal moment in Indian military history.
In a message shared by his office, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that the supreme sacrifice and unwavering commitment of the soldiers ensured India’s success in the war, and the nation will forever remain grateful for their service.
As part of the Vijay Diwas observances in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Sinha also unveiled a 108‑foot high mast National Flag at Kachrial in Akhnoor, paying homage to the martyrs, officers, and soldiers who made the country proud through their valour. He felicitated war veterans and Veer Naris, saluting their courage and contribution to the nation’s defence.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor described Kachrial as a region of historical and emotional significance, stating that every inch recalls the bravery of those who defended India’s sovereignty in both the 1965 and 1971 wars. He emphasized that the national flag is a symbol of freedom, self‑respect, and sacrifice, and urged citizens to uphold these values as India progresses toward its national goals.
The Vijay Diwas events this year included wreath‑laying ceremonies, remembrance gatherings, and messages from leaders across the country, reinforcing the nation’s collective gratitude to the armed forces and the enduring legacy of those who laid down their lives in service to the country.
