As part of its intensified crackdown on bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu (Rural) Police successfully intercepted illegal bovine transportation in the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police intercepted two vehicles at different locations within the area. During inspection, a total of 10 bovines were found being transported without valid permissions.
Details of the seized vehicles are as follows:
- Vehicle No. JK19A-1567: 4 bovines
- Vehicle No. JK19A-2998: 6 bovines
All the animals were rescued safely and shifted to the police station, where adequate arrangements for water and fodder were made to ensure their welfare. Both vehicles involved in the illegal transportation were seized by authorities.
In this connection, FIR No. 142/2025 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the PCA Act has been registered at PS Jhajjar Kotli against Zulfikar Ahmed S/o Parvez Ahmed R/o Hillar Harama, Anantnag and Altaf Ahmed S/o Nishat Ahmed R/o Ainoo Brai, Tehsil Pahalgam, District Anantnag in respect of vehicle JK19A-1567.
Further, FIR No. 143/2025 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the PCA Act has been registered for vehicle JK19A-2998 against an unknown driver, who reportedly fled the spot under the cover of darkness.
Investigation in both cases is ongoing as police work to identify all those involved and prevent further illegal transportation of animals.
