Rajouri, 20/12/2025: The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Jammu, in partnership with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar, successfully conducted a one-day workshop on Packaging, Designing, and Branding under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative at the Conference Hall, PWD Dak Bungalow, Rajouri.

The workshop was designed to empower local artisans and craft-based entrepreneurs by enhancing their marketing skills and preparing them for competitive markets. Through practical sessions and expert guidance, participants were introduced to modern techniques in branding, packaging, and marketing, enabling them to better position their products and increase market value.

Experts highlighted that many artisans and weavers remain unorganized and lack basic marketing knowledge, which often limits their earnings. Faculty from NIFT Srinagar shared successful case studies and demonstrated how effective branding and packaging strategies can help artisans create their own brands and tap into wider markets.

The interactive sessions allowed participants to engage directly with experts, learn about contemporary consumer trends, and gain hands-on experience in developing market-ready products.

Assistant Director, Handicrafts & Handloom Rajouri, Shri Abhinandan Magotra, led the workshop, which saw enthusiastic participation from AHTOs, craft instructors, departmental staff, trainees, members of cooperative societies, and independent artisans and weavers.

Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Malikzada Sheraz Ul Haq, lauded the successful execution of the workshop and praised the department’s efforts in promoting skill development, market linkages, and grassroots-level support for artisans.

The Department reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local artisans and weavers by enhancing their competitiveness and helping traditional crafts meet modern market demands through training programs, expert collaborations, and sustained institutional guidance.
