New Delhi: The Government of India has launched **Bharat Taxi**, a driver-owned ride-hailing platform aimed at providing an alternative to existing commercial cab services while empowering drivers with ownership and better earnings. The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote self-reliance, fair employment, and technological innovation in the transport sector.

Bharat Taxi is designed to be a platform where drivers themselves own and operate the service, allowing them to retain a larger share of the fare and participate in decision-making processes. The platform also emphasizes transparency, safety, and affordability for passengers, leveraging modern app-based booking and tracking systems.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways highlighted that the initiative aligns with the government’s vision of creating sustainable employment opportunities and reducing dependency on external aggregators. Drivers on Bharat Taxi can also benefit from training programs, digital tools, and support services to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Through Bharat Taxi, the government aims to strengthen local entrepreneurship in the mobility sector while providing commuters with a safe, reliable, and cost-effective transport option. The platform is expected to gradually expand to cover major cities across India, with plans to integrate innovative technologies and enhance customer experience over time.
