RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, on Friday conducted an extensive inspection of key civic and developmental projects across Rajouri town, reaffirming the administration’s focus on cleanliness, infrastructure improvement and public safety.
As part of the ongoing mission-mode drive to strengthen sanitation, the DDC inspected the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at the Bus Stand. He interacted with sanitation supervisors and field staff, lauding their efforts and encouraging them to continue working with commitment and responsibility. Stressing the importance of segregating dry and wet waste at the source, he described it as the cornerstone of sustainable waste management and directed the sanitation teams to actively sensitise the public.
The DDC informed that for the past six days, the district administration has been closely monitoring waste segregation, sanitation facilities and overall cleanliness in Rajouri town to ensure visible and lasting improvements.
During the visit, he also inspected the ongoing construction of the Aspirational Toilet at the Bus Stand and instructed the concerned agencies to maintain high standards of quality while ensuring timely completion.
Further, the DDC inspected Abdullah Bridge and Jullah Bridge, directing the concerned departments to install protective mesh on both sides. The measure aims to prevent dumping of waste into the river and to enhance pedestrian safety, particularly for children.
Reviewing progress on cultural and educational infrastructure, the District Development Commissioner inspected the construction work of the Martyr Dr Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial Museum and Library and assessed the pace of execution.
He later visited Salani to examine the proposed site for a Water Park and reviewed the feasibility of the project.
The DDC also inspected the culvert constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at Kheora, expressed satisfaction over the completion of the work and directed that it be made operational for vehicular traffic at the earliest.
Additional District Commissioner Chander Prakash, Tehsildar, Executive Officer Municipality, representatives from the BRO and other district and sectoral officers accompanied the District Development Commissioner during the inspections.
