KULGAM: In a symbolic gesture marking the ongoing Pulse Polio Immunisation campaign, District Commissioner (DC) Kulgam administered two drops of polio vaccine to a newborn child, highlighting the importance of timely immunisation in safeguarding children from the disease.
The DC emphasized that every child in the district within the age group of 0 to 5 years should receive the polio vaccine and urged parents to ensure complete participation in the campaign. He praised the efforts of health workers and volunteers for their dedication in reaching out to children across all areas, including remote and hard-to-reach villages.
Authorities reiterated that the Pulse Polio programme is a crucial step in maintaining the district’s polio-free status and called on the community to actively support the immunisation drive. The campaign involves fixed booths, mobile teams, and house-to-house visits to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.
The DC also interacted with healthcare staff and volunteers, encouraging them to continue their diligent work and ensure that the campaign achieves full coverage across Kulgam.
