KUPWARA: District Commissioner (DC) Kupwara on Sunday urged all parents and guardians in the district to actively participate in the ongoing Pulse Polio Immunisation (PPI) campaign to ensure that every child within the age group of 0 to 5 years receives the polio vaccine.

The DC emphasized that timely immunisation is crucial for protecting children from polio and maintaining the district’s polio-free status. He appealed to the public to cooperate with health workers and volunteers conducting the campaign, and to ensure that their children are vaccinated either at fixed booths or through mobile teams operating in various localities.

Officials informed that the PPI campaign in Kupwara is being carried out through a combination of fixed vaccination booths, mobile teams, and house-to-house visits to cover children in remote and hard-to-reach areas. Special attention is being given to raising awareness among parents about the importance of administering polio drops to their children.

The DC also reviewed the arrangements for the campaign, interacted with health staff and volunteers, and appreciated their efforts in reaching out to the community. He urged them to continue their dedication and ensure complete coverage during the immunisation drive.

Authorities reiterated that the success of the Pulse Polio programme depends on active participation from parents and the community, and called for collective support to safeguard every child against polio.
