RAMBAN: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary, a team ofMotor Vehicle Department, led by ARTO, Sheetal Kumar Sharma today conducted an enforcement drive on the Kanga, Ramban to Gool route.
During the drive, the team checked 53 vehicles. As many as 8 vehicles were found to be operating in contravention to various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and were issued challans.
An amount of Rs 11,400 fine was recovered on the spot, while 2 Driving Licenses were also seized. During the drive, a number of school vehicles were also checked for fitness, provision of first aid, fire extinguisher. The operators were asked to comply with the traffic norms so as to ensure the safety of the students. The drive specifically targeted overloading, fitness inspections, validity of route permit and overcharging in vehicles.
An awareness camp on road safety norms was also organised at Kaubagh Ground, Ramban to create awareness among vehicle operators about the importance of adhering to traffic rules.
Stressing on following safety rules, the Team ARTO Ramban educated the drivers about the significance of wearing seat-belts, avoiding use of mobile phones, drug consumption and other distractions while driving.
