Jammu :A 16-member Army cycling expedition team of Tiger Division has achieved a unique and unparalleled feat by cycling to one of the highest villages in the world, Komic in Himachal Pradesh situated at an altitude of 15,100 feet.

The expedition was undertaken by Lightning Streaks Regiment under the aegis of Tiger Division and was led by one officer along with one JCO and 14 other ranks. 

The sixteen-member team navigated challenging routes and varying weather conditions throughout Himachal Pradesh, covering approximately a thousand plus kilometers, with majority of it being off-road.

The expedition touched base with 26 border villages which included five vibrant villages as declared by Govt Of India and Himachal Pradesh State Govt. 

The cycling team traversed through the vibrant villages of Chitkul, Chango, Pooh, Leo, and Nako, and also passed through Hurling, Tabo, Kaza, and Komic, finally culminating their expedition in Kaza on October 12, 2024. 

The expedition team interacted with approximately 2300 school going children and youths and raised awareness about the Agnipath Scheme, Officer Entry Scheme and girl child entry in Sainik Schools, Rashtriya Indian Military college Dehradun and Officers Training Academy while giving away pamphlets and entrance exam books. This exemplary initiative strengthened the bond between the armed forces and the civilian population, reflecting a dedication to national integration and border development. 

This adventurous journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Himachal Pradesh not only showcased the physical endurance and esprit de corps of the soldiers but also highlighted their commitment to fostering community ties and promoting tourism in border areas.
