KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, today chaired a meeting of the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to review and discuss the progress of asset creation works funded through the Trust. The meeting focused on the strategic utilization of DMFT funds in accordance with the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) guidelines.
The meeting featured comprehensive discussions on maximizing the impact of available funds. One of the key decisions was to establish new synthetic sports courts in Bhoond and Mandli to enhance sports infrastructure in these areas, promoting youth engagement in athletics and recreation.
Another significant project approved in the meeting was the rejuvenation of a pond in Chhan Arorian. The revitalization will include the development of surrounding amenities, transforming the water body into a vital community asset and promoting environmental conservation.
The meeting also highlighted the intention to create additional assets in sectors such as education, sanitation, health, social welfare, labor, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and Public Works Department (PWD). These projects will address critical infrastructure needs and provide immediate solutions to pressing issues in the district.
Emphasizing the effective use of DMFT funds, Dr. Rakesh Minhas directed stakeholders to prioritize high-impact areas, including drinking water supply, construction of check dams, water recharge structures, playgrounds, and new classrooms in schools, particularly in mining-affected regions of Kathua district.
The meeting was attended by ACD, CPO, (SE) PWD, DMO (Member Secretary), CMO, CAO, CEO, DSWO; and other DMFT members.
