RAJOURI,: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma on Thursday chaired a meeting in the DC Office Complex to review the cooperative sector achievements and the implementation of the plan for strengthening the world’s largest grain storage plan.
Emphasizing the need for better implementation of cooperative schemes, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of increasing the number of food processing units across the district. He directed departments to work in close coordination, particularly Agriculture, Fisheries, and Sheep Husbandry, to ensure holistic development.
Highlighting the potential for crop-specific processing in different areas, the Deputy Commissioner noted the scope for maize processing in Nowshera, where the functioning of the cooperative society was reviewed.
The Deputy Registrar Cooperative briefed the chair that land has been transferred at Thandapani for grain storage, and similar arrangements in Kalakote and Budhal would be expedited.
Reviewing the functioning of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), DC Sharma emphasized their engagement in tourism activities. He directed that SHGs should be involved as tourist guides and tasked with providing trekking materials and tentage on rent to boost local tourism.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including CPO, Maqsood Ahmed, ACR, Mohd Jahangir Khan, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Adnan Mir, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, AD Fisheries, and other district and sectoral officers, who were instructed to ensure the seamless execution of plans and schemes under their respective domains.
