New Delhi – Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic has said he will cherish the final moments of the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medal match for the rest of his life.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion finally completed his illustrious trophy collection by defeating Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets to claim the elusive Olympic gold, ending a 16-year wait for the only major title that had eluded him.

“I’ve probably watched the video a million times,” Djokovic told Laureus, after being shown footage of his historic win, as quoted by Olympics.com.

“This moment will remain the pinnacle of my career. I waited and worked for years to reach this point. After heartbreaking losses at the last four Olympics, I finally achieved it. I’ll remember this forever,” he added.

Djokovic’s performance in Paris was dominant—he didn’t drop a single set throughout the tournament and avenged a recent Wimbledon final defeat to Alcaraz just weeks earlier.

The Olympic gold was Djokovic’s only title in the 2024 season, but it was the one that completed his career golden slam.

At 38, Djokovic’s triumph over Alcaraz marked the culmination of a journey to secure every major accolade in the sport, including all four Grand Slams, the Davis Cup, the ATP Finals, and every Masters 1000 title.

Looking ahead, tennis at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics will take place at the Tennis Center in Carson, currently a USTA high-performance training facility.
