New Delhi: Aadhaar authentication transactions rose 10.3% year-on-year to 221 crore in August 2025, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) announced on Thursday.

UIDAI highlighted that Aadhaar Face Authentication continues to gain traction, recording 18.6 crore transactions in August 2025, up sharply from 6.04 crore a year earlier.

“Aadhaar number holders executed over 221 crore authentication transactions in August 2025—higher than both the previous month this year and the same month last year,” UIDAI said in a statement.

The authority noted that the rising adoption of Aadhaar underscores its growing role in powering India’s digital economy.

On September 1, 2025, UIDAI registered the highest-ever single-day face authentication transactions at 1.5 crore, surpassing the earlier record of 1.28 crore on August 1.

Currently, more than 150 entities, including government departments, financial institutions, oil marketing companies, and telecom service providers, are leveraging face authentication to deliver services and benefits seamlessly.

Additionally, 38.53 crore e-KYC transactions were completed in August 2025, UIDAI added.
