Rajouri, Dec 6: The School Education Department (SED) conducted a massive surprise inspection of 200 government schools across Rajouri district to assess academic standards, infrastructure, and staff performance. Officials said the exercise was aimed at ensuring accountability and improving the quality of education in the region.
Inspection teams visited schools in both urban and rural areas, checking attendance registers, classroom activities, and adherence to teaching schedules. They also reviewed the availability of basic facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, and heating arrangements, particularly in view of the ongoing winter season.
Senior officers of the department confirmed that several irregularities were detected, including absenteeism of staff, delayed distribution of textbooks, and gaps in midday meal implementation. Show-cause notices have been issued to defaulting officials, and corrective measures are being initiated.
The department emphasized that surprise inspections are part of a broader strategy to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure that government schools deliver quality education. Officials reiterated that accountability and transparency remain top priorities.
Local communities welcomed the move, noting that regular inspections will help improve standards and restore confidence in public education. Authorities assured that similar drives will continue across other districts to address shortcomings and enhance learning outcomes.
