The authorities in Poonch district have seized four vehicles found involved in illegal mining activities during a special drive conducted by the District Administration and the Geology & Mining Department.
Officials said the vehicles were intercepted from different locations following complaints of unauthorized extraction and transportation of minor minerals. The teams inspected vulnerable spots and carried out checks to curb illegal mining practices.
The seized vehicles have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal proceedings as per the Mining Act and other applicable regulations. Strict action has also been initiated against the individuals involved.
The District Administration said that enforcement drives will continue across the region to safeguard natural resources and prevent environmental degradation caused by illegal mining. The department urged the public to cooperate and report any such activities.
