A major child trafficking racket is busted in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. A girl is rescued by the police; the suspects were allegedly planning to sell her in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad. Ahmedabad rural police have unearthed an inter-state child trafficking nexus.
As per the officials, 4 persons, including two women, have been arrested in relation to the case.
The police further told that a deal worth Rs 1.5 lakh was finalised and the accused planned to sell the girl in South India too.
In April 2025, Delhi police busted a gang of alleged child traffickers involved in the abduction and sale of newborns in different states. Three individuals, including two women, were arrested in connection with the case, and two infants — one just four to five days old — were rescued.
As per the police, the gang operated across state lines, targeting remote villages and hospitals in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Newborns, some barely days old, were stolen and then kept in slum areas around Delhi before being sold to childless couples for sums ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh.

The arrest was made in connection with an inter-State child trafficking racket following a police operation led by the Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT) in collaboration with Chaitanyapuri police.
During the operation, the police rescued four infants—two baby girls and two baby boys—who had been illegally procured and sold to families in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The police also seized eleven mobile phones and Rs 5,000 in cash.
The accused were identified as Kola Krishnaveni (26), Battu Deepthi (35), Goutham Savithri Devi (27), Battu Sravan Kumar (38), Amgoth Sharada (38), Buddihi Sampath Kumar (40).
A couple from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, another couple from Saidabad, and a man from Mahabubabad were also arrested for illegal adoptions.
