Mumbai: Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana has stated that the team’s ultimate goal is to lift the World Cup trophy. She also highlighted the significant role the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has played in shaping Indian women’s cricket.

Rana will be part of the Indian squad that begins its 2025 World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30. She made a comeback to India’s white-ball setup this year after 2023, claiming 21 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 22.09, including best figures of 5/43.

On JioHotstar’s show Off the Pitch, Rana shared her thoughts on the marquee tournament, calling it an honour to represent the nation.

“Playing in the World Cup is every cricketer’s dream. It will be exciting and challenging, especially since we’re playing at home. This is a special moment for all of us, and even more so for Harman didi (Harmanpreet Kaur), who has been an inspiration for years. Our aim is clear – to fill the trophy cabinet with a World Cup,” she said.

Rana also praised the WPL for giving Indian cricketers exposure to top international talent.

“The WPL allows us to play alongside and against some of the best players in the world. Learning from elite foreign coaches, understanding their strategies, and observing their decision-making in key moments has been invaluable,” she added.

Since the tournament’s inception in 2023, Sneh has played 17 WPL matches for Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), taking 12 wickets at an average of 35.33, with best figures of 3/26.

She further emphasized that the World Cup is always on the team’s mind, even during bilateral series.

“This is Amol Muzumdar sir’s first World Cup as head coach, making it extra special. Playing in front of a huge Indian crowd will make this campaign memorable, and we are ready for the challenge,” she said.
