Indore-bound Air India flight makes emergency landing in Delhi after engine fire alert
New Delhi: An Indore-bound Air India flight returned to Delhi on Sunday morning after the cockpit crew received a “fire indication” in its right engine, officials said.
The A320 neo aircraft, operating as flight AI2913, was airborne for over 30 minutes before making an emergency landing at Delhi airport around 6:15 am. More than 90 passengers were on board.
Air India said the crew followed standard protocol, shut down the affected engine and landed the aircraft safely. The plane has since been grounded for inspection, while passengers are being shifted to another aircraft for their onward journey.
The airline added that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed about the incident.
This comes amid a series of technical snags reported in Air India aircraft in recent months.
