Srinagar, December 7: After several days of widespread cancellations, IndiGo’s operations showed a tentative recovery in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, with a total of 16 flights running across Srinagar and Jammu airports. Airport officials said services were improving, though some flights scheduled for Monday had already been called off due to ongoing operational disruptions.

At Srinagar International Airport, eight of ten scheduled IndiGo flights operated while two were cancelled, Director Javed Anjum said. “We have received intimation that some flights of IndiGo for Monday have been cancelled. At this point in time, we can say that things are gradually returning to normal,” Anjum said.

At Jammu Airport, eight of eleven scheduled IndiGo flights operated, though with delays, Director Devender Yadav said. “After two days of back-to-back cancellations, the flights of IndiGo have, by and large, started operating. There have been some delays, but we are hopeful that completely normal flight operations will be seen in the next two to three days,” Yadav said.

Despite Sunday’s partial resumption, several passengers reported receiving messages about cancellations for Monday. “I was supposed to travel to Bengaluru with my family tomorrow, but we have already received a cancellation message from IndiGo due to operational disruptions. We have been given the option to reschedule, but I would prefer to travel only once this fiasco is over,” said Abdul Aziz.

In a statement, IndiGo said it is implementing “significant and sustained improvements” across its network. The airline said steps taken on Saturday continued into Sunday, resulting in fewer cancellations and higher on-time performance, with cancellations made earlier to improve customer communication. “Our teams are working relentlessly to stabilise operations, and our primary focus remains on providing an enhanced travel experience for our customers. We are making significant progress in restoring our flight schedules and strengthening our customer support systems,” the spokesperson said.

Providing an operational snapshot, IndiGo said that on December 7 it was on track to operate over 1,650 flights, up from 1,500 on Saturday. The airline reported on-time performance at 75 percent, compared to 30 percent on December 6, and said refund and baggage processes were “in full action” for both direct and indirect bookings.
