Air Vice Marshal visits Leh IAF station; holds meetings with LG, GoC

Jammu: Air Officer Commanding Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Air Vice Marshal Vikas Sharma, held discussions with Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on strengthening civil-military cooperation and advancing regional development, a defence spokesperson said on Friday.

The meeting emphasized enhancing synergy between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and civil administration in Ladakh, with a focus on strategic preparedness, disaster management, infrastructure, and welfare of local communities.

“Air Vice Marshal Sharma, accompanied by Air Commodore Sanjay Prabhu, Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station Leh, met the Lieutenant Governor and deliberated on key issues related to civil-military cooperation and regional growth,” the spokesperson said.

According to the Raj Bhawan, Sharma and Prabhu assured the LG of the IAF’s continued support in matters of strategic and humanitarian importance. They also outlined ongoing efforts to strengthen logistics and maintain operational readiness in the Union Territory.

The LG praised the IAF’s crucial role in border security, disaster response, and ensuring connectivity in Ladakh’s remote areas. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to working with the IAF to enhance security and accelerate development.

During the visit, Air Vice Marshal Sharma also held detailed discussions with the General Officer Commanding, 14 Corps, on joint operations, border infrastructure, and connectivity in the region.

The visit underscored Ladakh’s strategic importance and reaffirmed the IAF’s resolve to boost its operational capabilities while fostering closer coordination with civil authorities and sister services, the spokesperson said.

Sharma was on a four-day tour of Ladakh.
