Jammu: Authorities on Sunday ordered the closure of all government and private schools across Jammu Division on September 1 due to persistent bad weather.

The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) said the step was necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff as incessant rains and landslides continue to affect hilly areas.

“In continuation of previous orders and considering the ongoing heavy rains and landslides in hilly regions, it is hereby ordered that all government and private schools in Jammu Division shall remain closed on 01-09-2025 (Monday),” the order signed by Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, stated.

Officials added that the situation is being closely monitored, and further decisions on reopening will be taken after assessing the weather conditions.
